Why Integration Matters

A sensor, gateway and dashboard can all work individually — and the monitoring system can still fail as a whole.

Industrial IoT projects cross multiple engineering boundaries: instrumentation, electrical installation, communication, networking, software configuration and operational use. Integration is the work required to make these elements function together reliably enough for the intended monitoring objective.

Handover is not simply confirming that a dashboard is online. The customer should understand the monitored scope, configuration boundaries, normal operating expectations and where further engineering support may be required.

Integration and commissioning confirm the agreed Siteplore monitoring functions. Safety, protection, control and regulatory functions remain subject to their own engineering, system and validation requirements.

System Integration & Commissioning FAQ

Do we need a Site Assessment before integration?

Not always, but an approved engineering scope is required. If measurement points, hardware, interfaces or connectivity have not yet been defined, Site Assessment & Engineering is usually the better first step.

Can Rekacipta integrate our existing sensors?

Potentially yes. Existing devices should be evaluated for measurement suitability, electrical interface, communication protocol, available data and condition.

Can existing electrical meters be integrated?

Potentially yes. Compatible existing meters can be evaluated as PowerWatch data sources when the required registers and communication interfaces are available.

Can Rekacipta integrate PLC or BMS data?

Potentially yes, where suitable interfaces, permissions, customer network architecture and cybersecurity requirements allow integration.

Do you install the sensors and edge devices?

Installation can be included where defined in the agreed project scope. Requirements depend on site conditions, equipment, work permits and installation responsibilities.

Does commissioning include sensor calibration?

Calibration requirements depend on the instrument and project scope. Commissioning verifies the agreed measurement and data path, but formal calibration or certified calibration should only be considered included when explicitly defined.

What happens if a device does not communicate during commissioning?

The issue is investigated against the defined interface, protocol, wiring, configuration and network requirements. Resolution may require device reconfiguration, wiring correction, alternative interface hardware or vendor support.

Can the integration use cellular connectivity?

Yes where the selected hardware, network coverage, site conditions and project architecture support it. Coverage should be validated before relying on cellular connectivity.

Is cybersecurity included?

Integration should respect the customer’s IT/OT cybersecurity requirements. Detailed cybersecurity assessment, hardening or compliance work should be defined as a separate or explicit project scope where required.

Can Siteplore automatically control equipment after commissioning?

The standard Siteplore scope is monitoring, analytics and decision support. Automatic control or shutdown requires separately engineered control or protection functions.

Can you commission only one machine or one monitoring point?

Yes. Focused integration can be a practical way to validate an architecture before wider deployment.

Can the system be expanded later?

Yes where the original architecture, network capacity and platform configuration support expansion. Future requirements should be considered during engineering.

What information should we send first?

Start with the project objective, devices to be connected, relevant datasheets, available drawings, existing network information and the Siteplore monitoring outcome you expect.

A monitoring system is not finished when the hardware is installed.
